7 Takeaways from the Dylan Scott ‘Country Muscle Podcast’ Appearance

Dylan Scott is no stranger to the constant grind—whether it’s touring, recording, and connecting with fans, family life and his entrepreneurial endeavors. Yet through it he finds a way to keep evolving professionally and with his physique

In his recent appearance on the Country Muscle Podcast, the “My Girl” singer talks about the struggles trying to maintain balance while juggling numerous responsibilities.

What Scott realized, he says, that in order to make it all work, some cuts are needed. For Scott, it meant to taking a small breaking from the weightroom, a routine that has stayed with the singer since high school. After taking a six-to-seven-month break from the gym, he lost nearly 15 pounds. It was an unexpected body transformation, but ultimately he embraced the change. “I was burned out from touring and being a dad, so I slowed down and didn’t lift for a while. Surprisingly, I lost weight,” Scott said. “My wife told me, ‘You’re looking skinny,’ and as a guy, that’s the last thing you want to hear, but I appreciated it because it showed me what my body could do naturally.”

His new album, Easy Does It, says, reflects that maturity and growth, both musically and lyrically. Scott describes the albums as “a continuation of everything I’ve been doing, but with more mature lyrics and sounds.” He aims to keep his music true to himself while evolving, maintaining that balance throughout his career: “We want to stay consistent but still keep it fresh.”

Offstage, Scott is also a hands-on businessman, co-owning both a trash hauling company and also a thriving Nashville coffee shop with his brother—while still managing the demands of family life.

On the Country Muscle Podcast, Scott talks to host Jeff Took about these changes in his life and daily routine as well as a host of other topics.

  5. Leaner may be better: After a seven-month gym break, Dylan Scott found his metabolism still intact and prefers a leaner physique
  6. Entrepreneurial spirit: Beyond music, Scott co-owns a growing trash hauling business in Louisiana and a coffee shop in Nashville with his brother.
