Sam Sulek Shares with Fans His Gold’s Gym Workout with Arnold Schwarzenegger

Social media sensation Sam Sulek has built a following of nearly seven million social media followers, but when it comes to training with bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger at LA’s iconic Gold’s Gym, the YouTube star is just as much a fan. The two paired up for a workout prior to Arnold’s Netflix premiere of FUBAR Season 2.

As they began their workout, the excitement was palpable. Sulek, who recently earned his IFBB Pro bodybuilding card, has gained recognition in the weightlifting world for his simplistic approach to training, was keen to soak up knowledge from arguably the sport’s greatest icon. “I kept thinking of the old training clips of him,” Sulek said in the clip, referring to the classic training of the seven-time Mr. Olympia.

During their session, the 77-year-old offered invaluable advice to the 23-year-old Sulek based on his days of old-school training: “Everyone trains differently, and everyone’s body requires different methods,” Schwarzenegger says. He emphasized the importance of finding a routine that works best for each individual, whether it involves heavy weights for fewer reps or lighter weights for higher volume. “There is no sweet spot,” he added, encouraging Sulek to explore various training styles to discover what resonates most for him.

Reflecting on his bodybuilding days, when he faced rivals such as Sergio Oliva and Franco Columbu, Schwarzenegger recalled the uniquely different philosophies each bodybuilder used to build their physiques. Some of them he admits, seem a little unorthodox compared with today’s laser-focused protocols. “When I was young, I saw guys doing 20 sets of 20 reps for bench press, while others did five sets of six,” he explained. “Who is right and who is wrong? It’s important to figure out what’s best for you.” This sentiment aligns with the belief that consistency and effort are the cornerstones of progress. Schwarzenegger’s journey from an ambitious young bodybuilder to a legend is a testament to the results of commitment and hard work.

Sam Sulek Receives Sage Advice from Schwarzenegger

In addition to his bucket list workout session, Sulek picked the former California governor’s brain when it came to the landscape of bodybuilding today. Schwarzenegger was blunt in his assessment of the state of the sport. “Bodybuilding doesn’t have the same personalities right now,” Schwarzenegger observed, highlighting the importance of authenticity in the sport. He asserted, “It’s not just about having a great body; it’s about performing and inspiring others. You want to make people excited about the gym.” This philosophy resonates with Sulek’s own approach, as he bases his social media content aimed at engaging and motivating his audience.

By the end of the training session, Sulek walked away not only with practical tips but also a renewed sense of motivation. “Being surrounded by someone with his level of experience makes me more excited,” Sulek said.
