Strava Unveils Sleek Redesign for Smarter, More Intuitive Activity Tracking

Strava has just raised the bar for mobile activity tracking.

On July 16, the San Francisco-based fitness tracking giant announced a sweeping redesign of its Record experience, promising a more intuitive, interactive, and athlete-friendly interface for users on the move.

The new Record experience, now available on Android and coming soon to iOS, is Strava’s answer to the evolving needs of its active community. According to Strava’s 2024 Year in Sport Trend Report, nearly three out of four athletes prefer logging their activities directly in the app, despite the proliferation of wearables and dedicated devices.

This insight drove Strava’s mission to streamline the mobile experience, making it easier than ever to track workouts, monitor progress, and stay motivated whether at home or on the road.

At the heart of its redesign is a smarter, more dynamic map powered by Strava’s updated Map Rendering Engine (MRE). The enhanced navigation brings unprecedented detail to maps and routes, allowing users to follow their activities in real time. No longer do athletes need to toggle between screens—Strava now displays both stats and maps simultaneously, keeping essential information front and center during every workout.

The update also introduces real-time Splits, giving users instant feedback on their pace and performance as they move. For those chasing personal bests, Live Segments are now easier to find and follow, with progress updates delivered in real time. And soon, the addition of Live Laps will let athletes mark and analyze specific intervals or distances mid-workout, further personalizing the training experience.

Strava subscribers can unlock even more with advanced map layers, including Winter Map styles, 3D Terrain, and Heatmaps, making every run, ride, or hike more engaging and informative. With this redesign, Strava continues to cement its reputation as the ultimate digital training partner, blending cutting-edge technology with athlete-centric design.
