Ian Munsick Makes Music History This Past Weekend At Cheyenne Frontier Days

Singer Ian Munsick was able to check off a bucket list moment this past weekend as he headlined Wyoming’s iconic Cheyenne Frontier Days. Munsick became the first Wyoming native to headline the “Daddy of ’em all,” bringing his unique Western-influenced to the state’s biggest stage.

Prior to the “Long Haul” singer’s performance, fans were treated to country legend Travis Tritt, who took the stage first. It was a full-circle moment for the rising star, who considered Tritt an early influence and huge role model. “He was the first country star to really embrace me,” Munsick told CBS News in an interview.

Munsick’s career has always been a reflection of his Northwest roots, and that theme kicked off the show by playing the fan favorite “I See Country,” followed by another hit,   “Barn Burner.” Munsick then introduced his tribute to the Frontier Days with “Cheyenne”: “I wrote this song about a year ago, manifesting the moment that’s happening right now.”

As the night progressed, fans eagerly lined danced to every number, pausing mid-set for a romantic proposal during the poignant love song “More Than Me.” The evening culminated in a special collaboration with fellow Wyoming native Ryan Charles on “Cowboy Killer,” which popularized Munsick’s signature Belt Buckle Shuffle dance move.

The concert closed with the homeland homage “Mountain Time.” He made it a family affair, bringing his father and brother to the stage—aka “The Munsick Boys”— to perform “Prairie Lament” and Chris LeDoux’s famous “Rodeo Moon.”

Munsick show schedule has him staying a bit longer at home, with a show scheduled for Thursday night at Helena’s Lewis & Clark Arena. Worldwide, Munsick has been steadily establishing himself as a country music powerhouse with top albums such as Coyote Cry and White Buffalo,  As he continues to sell out venues across the country and receive accolades from platforms like Spotify and CMT, Ian Munsick remains a voice that brings the West to life, both on stage and off.
