Jake Paul’s latest boxing spectacle ended in emphatic fashion Saturday night at Anaheim’s Honda Center, as he earned unanimous decision victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The YouTube star-turned-professional boxer demonstrated dominance early and held firm against a late charge from the seasoned ex-champion.
“Hahahaahhahahahajajajajajajajajajsjjajajaja W,” was the Problem Child’s short response on Instagram following his victory.
From the opening bell, Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) controlled the pace with a sharp and relentless left hand that kept Chavez Jr. (54-7-1, 34 KOs) on the defensive and unable to mount any serious offensive challenges. Chavez failed to land a single punch in the first round, according to CompuBox stats. Paul’s continuous jabs consistently kept the former WBC middleweight champ on his heels, while well-timed and powerful hooks to the body—some argued by Chavez as low blows—chipped away at Chavez’s stamina.
Chavez Jr. found his footing in the later rounds, as he begun, albeit late, to land sharper power shots that snapped Paul’s head back. The son of legendary Mexican world champion, Julio Cesar Chavez, Chavez Jr. was consistently outworked and outfought by Paul, who ended up scoring the unanimous decision.

Fans Left Unimpressed with The Jake Paul Victory
For as much as his win, the social media critics were quick to slam the win. Some called the fight fixed, and boring and scripted. Some questioned whether Chavez was prohibited from mounting a legitimate attack.
“Hopefully everyone’s getting bored of this Jake Paul circus now,” said one Twitter user.
Even journalist Piers Morgan, who earlier in the week had Paul walk out mid interview, chimed in on the impact of the victory.
“BREAKING: I had a better fight with Jake Paul on Thursday than the unwatchable farce that took place tonight. The guy’s lining his pockets with buckets of $$$$ – but he’s killing boxing with this boring staged bullsh*t against older fighters way past their prime.”
After the win, Paul didn’t shy away from future big fights, calling out cruiserweight champions Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez and Badou Jack, as well as two-times heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua and lightweight king Gervonta “Tank” Davis.
Some fans questioned whether Paul would score successfully against legitimate competition.
“The Jake Paul that fought last night doesn’t beat Zurdo, not even close. Badou Jack now…maybe possibly,” said one on Twitter.
What makes Paul’s win even more interesting is that with his win, one outlet is reporting that Paul may even crack the top 15 cruiserweight division.
