Jelly Roll is about to hit another muscle-building milestone: The platinum-selling artist is about to drop his weight below 300 pounds.
When he enters the ring this weekend at SummerSlam in East Rutherford, NJ, it’ll be the first time since middle school that the scale dipped below 300, the “I’m Okay” singer proudly announcement during a candid conversation with WWE’s Stephanie McMahon on her What’s Your Story podcast.
“I’m going to be under 300 pounds for the first time since middle school, the night I walk to that ring at SummerSlam,” Jelly Roll revealed. “That’s the first time I would be under 300 pounds for the first time since I was… we’re talking about literally now, like fifth, sixth grade.”
The path to this weight-shedding milestone has been a satisfyingly grueling challenge. Jelly Roll’s transformation is the result of months of discipline, dieting, and consistent training. “I weigh in once a month,” he says. I wait in right before I got here, we have the scale documented that month.”
And now Jelly Roll, who recently shared that the drop in pounds has come without the use of weight-loss drugs, has added a tough wrestling training regimen to his routine.
“I’ve had to train and build slowly. I’ve had to get in this ring every day and do 20 or 30 and like, start doing just every day,” he explained . The physical toll is real: “The first two weeks, my whole side was purple and blue.”
Stephanie McMahon, the daughter of for WWE head Vince McMahon, was quick to offer her congratulations: “Wow. Congratulations. Literally.”. Her words echoed the sentiment of fans everywhere, inspired by Jelly Roll’s willingness to share not just his struggles, but his triumphs.
