Jon Pardi to Headline Big 12 Football Championship Halftime Show

Country music will take center stage at this year’s Big 12 Football Championship. The conference announced on Wednesday that award-winning artist Jon Pardi will headline the halftime show set for Saturday, December 6, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Pardi, known for his modern take on traditional honky tonk as well as his energizing stage shows, will also make history as the first country artist to perform at the Big 12 title game. He’ll be performing along with both marching bands from the two universities participating in this year’s championship game.

“I’m so fired up to be part of the Big 12 Football Championship game this year — and to be the first country artist to do it makes it even more fun,” Pardi shared. “It’s going to be a good time—we’re going to give fans an unforgettable show.”

Fresh off the release of his fifth studio album, Honkytonk Hollywood, Pardi continues to blaze his own trail in country music. The album’s lead single, “Friday Night Heartbreaker,” became his sixth No. 1 single. The singer’s developed a reputation for infusing country with an intimidating guitar sound. December’s game won’t be his first interaction with football—Pardi’s already performed at a previous College Football Playoff matchup. His single, “Night Shift,” made its video debut on ESPN, and the California native even announced an NFL Draft pick for his team, the San Francisco 49ers.

. “I’ve always believed in staying true to myself and my sound,” Pardi said in a previous interview. “That’s what keeps the music real, and that’s what fans connect with.”
